Matt Holliday
It is rumored that the Rockies have made outfielder Matt Holliday available to other teams for mainly pitching. The Mets are one of several teams rumored to be interested. If you are the Mets how much would you be willing to give up. Holliday playing half his games at Coors Field is one of the best hittters in the game. He will no doubt be a good hitter playing half his games else where but how good is the question? He is great at Coors and only good elsewhere. As a fan would you want the Mets to give up a package of Niese, Murphy, Kunz, and Heillman for Holliday? I would actually probably say no to this deal (although it would be a tough call). I would say no because there are a few OFs on the Free Angent market who we could sign without giving up these players: Dunn, Manny, Ibanez, Burrell, Abreu, etc. While only Manny is the only one who is as good/better than Holliday the others are still solid options.

bonds is available too. you were talking about guys like mark prior earlier. bonds is one of those guys. he brings teams together. i'll write an article on bonds tenure as a met when the mets finally sign him.
i personally think murphy is too valualbe a prospect to trade
bstro I know you love Murphy but he seriously too valuable to trade? Even for arguably should have been NL MVP of 2007? He is one of the best pure hitters in the league. Murphy is not and probably will never be. He'll be an above average 2b if he stays there but I just don't see him being a superstar like Holliday.
wed need somethin great in return for murphy and with everything else wed give up for him its not worth it
btw hes currently tearin it up in the arizona fall league and is an azfl all star
you have to admit hes got potential to be great
AFL stats mean close to nothing. He is good just not as good as you make him out to be. If he does ever get that good I'll gladly admit I was wrong bstro but until then I'm not changing my feelings on him.
out of those choices you listed while taking account how they will be obtained via trade or FA
1. Ibanez
2. pat the bat
3. holliday (celebrate!)
4. Man-Ram
5. K-machine
1000. Abreu
BSTRO comes into O'Hara's office every morning raving about Murphy how good he is. Not a chance he will outdo Holliday (Whom i might add CARRIED THE COLORADO ROCKIES to the WORLD SERIES LAST YEAR) a tall task that I don't think Murphy will accomplish anytime soon. I'd love to see Manny in orange and blue. I DO NOT want ABREU! Stats mean nothing in his case - i hate him because he is a philly/yankee. BSTRO stop speaking about Arizona Fall League - stick to the MLB where things actually matter.
I don't want Abreu either but I'm saying he is a solid option.
BONDS
im not saying hell outdo holliday but he has the potential to be a solid everyday player with potential to be great
lmao..b-stro..you wish that comment remotely made sense.
in nearly every game that he started he had at least one hit and he came through in the clutch a lot
lol..be that as it may, but you just said that he has potential to be a solid player with potential to be great...that's dumb..
abreu is not really a solid option anymore imo, especially his defense now, the man is afraid of the wall
i meant to say hell be a solid everyday player with good potential to be great
you can just say potential...no need to add the "good" in there..
* Avg .296
* HR 20
* RBI 100
* Runs 100
* SB 22
Those are pretty solid numbers if you ask me. I am personally not a fan of signing him but I am just saying he is a solid option. Yes, he is afraid of the wall but he's always been afraid of the wall. He may not be the best defender but he's not terrible either.
you're talking about bonds, right?
alright your sarcasm is gettin anoying
what sarcasm?
for the record Abreu hits in front of A-Rod so he gets a lot of good pitches to hit. And don't even say he'll be just as good with Wright behind him.
