No b-stro no no no no no. That makes no sense. Sidearm pitchers like Smith usually have terrible split stats against the opposite handed batters. You want a closer who can pitch to hitters on both sides of the plate. Lefties hit .320 off of Smith as compared to .192 for righties. That is not good nor closer material. He is not a dominating pitcher which is what you want closers to be typically. He is a very good right handed specialist/ ground ball specialist and that is what he will stay as.
he was the only guy in the bullpen that could get anyone out toward the end of the season i think your right it just of the guys we currentky have id want him
Hypothetically speaking if we had all the guys we have now and no one new, I would go with a bullpen by committee because you have 2 lefty specialists in Schow and Feliciano who are both great at getting lefties out but not righties. Smith is the opposite. Heilman was good at getting both but last year pitching though injury was terrible against lefties (healthy... he would be the best option). We would have to go closer by matchup which presents a problem when switch hitters come up.
