Playoff Hopes and Predictions: World Series

Well the Red Sox were eliminated but did come close to winning it. As soon as they put in Price to close the game I knew it was over for the Sox. It's a Phillies vs. Rays matchup. I want the Rays to win but I have a gut feeling that the Phillies will. I love Cliff Floyd and Carl Crawford so I am pulling for the Rays. They should win because of their superior pitching but many many times the best team does not win. So here we go. I can't wait unitl the Hot Stove begins, one of my favorite parts of the year.

I would just like to say thank god Boston lost. The Phillies have the better bullpen, most rest, and as good a line-up as the rays. The Rays have the better starting pitching and every1 is now jumping on their bandwagon.

Injuries finally caught up with Boston. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Phillies may have a stronger bullpen and line-up, but it's not like the Rays got here on pure luck. They have been one of the best teams in the league since April and have constantly shot down skeptics. Also, the rest that the Phillies have is not necessarily an advantage. Rest can really knock a team out of rhythm if it's too long. The Phillies haven't played in over a week. The Rays have all of the momentum going into the series. Truthfully, I don't give a shit who wins. Sox are out. It's whack. Time for the Knicks to rule the NBA.

this world series has great potential to be one of the greatest of all time

two teams that play the game like it should be played and have got here the right way

1 of the most boring world series in a very long time

First off injuries are a part of the game and w/o any injuries in the MLB the whole playoff race would have been different. The Mets and possibly the Cardinals would have been in the playoffs. The Red Sox probably would have made it to the WS. Shoot, even the Yanks may have made it but probably not. I think they would have missed the Wild Card by a game or two.

Secondly, have teams in the past not played the game like it should be played? I'm confused and hate when people say stuff like that. I'm sorry but baseball hardly ever plays out as it should. Personally I think that for a true fan no World Series should be boring because it is the biggest series of the year. Just because there are none of your favorites or there are a bunch of no-names doesn't make the series boring.

Also I have to agree w/ J-$ that rest isn't always good. Remember Detroit vs. Cardinals in 2006? Rest didn't help much as the Cards ran over the Tigers. Phils have more power but Rays have more speed. Rays have better starting rotation and Phils have better bullpen. Rays have better defense which is highly underrated in baseball these days.

Rays did make a lot of costly errors on the field in the ALCS though. Something to keep an eye on.

And also, I'm not saying that the Sox should have won. I'm surprised they got that far. With Big Papi and Beckett hampered by injuries and Lowell out, I think it's just impressive that they got that far. That's all. The Rays earned it. Says a lot about the Sox though. Very Resilient.

I was just stating the fact that they have more rest, I don't know if it's going to be a good thing or not. We'll see tonight though.
