Playoff Hopes and Predictions: Championship Series

Well my NL hopefuls got eliminated while my AL hopefuls got through. Now the two match ups are Dodgers vs. Phillies and Rays vs. Red Sox. I am hoping for the Sox to win and then go on to win the World Series. I think the Red Sox have a good shot a doing so, especially with the Cubs out of it. I really don't care much about who wins the Dodgers vs. Phillies matchup. I'll hope for the Dodgers because Lowe and Manny playing against the Sox in Boston would be very interesting. Like I said before, the Dodgers are deceptively good and are better than most people think. They have a legitimate shot to win the series vs the Phillies. I think that it will be a Sox vs. Phillies matchup but I'm hoping the Dodgers can beat the Phillies.

I am not going to make any predictions since my World Series teams are both out( thank god this wasnt a tourney brackett). The dodgers are firing on all cylinders and have their spark, furcal, back. Their starting pitching and their line-up are better than perceived. The Phillies have possibly the best line-up remaining and possibly the best bullpen with Lidge (who still hasnt blown a save). Their starting pitcher is decent and could possibly be their biggest problem. In the AL, I'm praying that the red sox dont repeat, but they are looking very strong with very strong starting rotation, a strong bullpen and a strong line-up. There are few holes in this team, but one of them may be getting to Papelbon. The Rays are similar to the dodgers, with a better than expected line-up and bullpen. They have a very good rotation, with Kazmir, the guy who was traded for Victor Zambrano, as their ace. Both series should be interesting. PLEASE LOSE RED SOX!!!!!!!!!

I find it interesting with everyone calling out the sox bullpen when there are only a few guys in it with above a 4 E.R.A.. Masterson is an intangible because of his age. I haven't seen Timlin in a long time. Otherwise, the other guys in it have been solid. The other guys in the bullpen are Lopez, Delcarmen, and Okajima. Each one has an E.R.A. under four, and two of them are under three. Along with Masterson, they will be the unit that Sox will be going with throughout the postseason. Papelbon had 41 saves this year which by MLB standards is a good year, and wouldn't suggest that they have a hard time getting to him.

The Red Sox have a pretty good bullpen but it is not great. Papelbon is great but no one else in the 'pen is. Also, Masterson is an intangible because of his age? What does that even mean? If it means what I think you're trying to say, that is just dumb. ERA is somewhat of a misleading stat for relievers but regardless. The Sox have a pretty good bullpen but it is their weakest link.
